背信棄義

上一集談了忠誠、可靠（loyal, faithful）；這一集談談相反詞。Loyal和faithful的相反詞，最簡單是加一個前綴或後綴：loyal的相反disloyal，即是對國家、對家庭或者對一個機構不忠實、不忠誠，對朋友不守信義。

一、Beware of disloyal friends who will stab you in the back.（提防那些靠不住的朋友，在你背後捅刀子。）

二、He was accused of being disloyal to his country when he dissented with the views of the President.（他不贊同總統的意見，便被指對國家不忠。）

Faithful有兩個相反詞，一個是faithless，跟disloyal的意思相近，即是不忠誠的、不可信任的、不守信用的。

三、Our faithless friends left us at the first sign of trouble.（那些沒信義的朋友，一見出事便離開我們了。）

四、They were deserted by their faithless allies.（不守信義的盟友背棄了他們。）

Faithful的另一個相反詞是unfaithful，也是不忠誠的意思；這個字特別用來指丈夫對妻子、或者妻子對丈夫不忠，有婚外情。

五、She denied having been unfaithful to her husband.（她否認曾對丈夫不忠。）

奸詐如蛇

要表示一個人不可信任，隨時會背叛或出賣信任他的人，可以說treacherous。蛇被認為是最treacherous的動物；如果說一個人十分奸詐，可說as treacherous as a snake。

六、He knew that many members in his team were treacherous and insubordinate.（他知道團隊裏有很多不忠心、不聽話的成員。）

Treacherous也常會用來表示一個處境、一件事情有潛在的危險，如果不小心提防，隨時會發生意外。

七、The ice on the roads made driving conditions treacherous.（冰封了路面，令駕駛十分危險。）

有一個字和treacherous及faithless很接近，是perfidious，也可以用來形容會出賣你的、絕對靠不住的人。

八、The company was betrayed by its perfidious allies.（公司被不忠實的盟友出賣了。）

九、The rebellion was put down by a series of treacheries and perfidious negotiations.（革命被一系列的叛變行為和不忠實的談判挫敗了。）

如果一個人經常騙人、不誠實、不可信，可以用deceitful形容他。

十、The deceitful salesman sold the broken vacuum cleaner to the elderly woman.（不誠實的店員把壞了的吸塵機賣給老婦。）

十一、Politicians make deceitful promises during elections.（政客在選舉時作出騙人的承諾。）

叛徒、賣國賊叫traitor；由此而來的形容詞traitorous，就是背叛的、不忠誠的。

十二、The traitorous soldier was giving secrets to the enemy.（叛國的士兵向敵人洩密。）

十三、There was something about his eyes that made us feel wary of him, the eyes of someone deceitful and traitorous.（他的眼睛令我們覺得要提防他，那是一個奸詐的叛徒的眼睛。）

一個可靠的朋友是a true friend；不可靠的朋友就是a false friend。

十四、We were betrayed by a false friend.（我們被一個不忠實的朋友出賣了。）

害人之心不可有，防人之心不可無。最難提防的是false friends；最危險的是誤信disloyal、faithless、treacherous、deceitful，甚至traitorous的人。
